1.Mission & role of the function:
To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Quarry on a day to day basis in conjunction with the Site Manager and his team. To help achieve agreed safety, environmental, cost, quality and service objectives through successful and effective management of the site with the Management team.
2.Key accountabilities:
The main activity of the role involves leading, directing and managing the operational team to achieve its performance objectives. The performance emphasis for this unit includes;

To hold the appointment under Section 8 (1) (d) of the Quarries Regulations 1999
Health and Safety: Operating to the highest level of health and safety objectives in line with Health and Safety IMS procedures. To lead by example in the observance of safety rules and use of protective equipment and safety devices, to audit and complete sections as appropriate of the daily inspection (checklist format). To assist the Manager in the control of contractors working on site, to include inspections of their plant and equipment and their adherence to prepared method statements, safe working practices. Control of Mobile plant inspections ensuring machines are kept to Golden rules standards.
*Environmental: Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Environmental IMS procedures.
*Ensure all IMS procedures are in being adhered to by all employees
*Compliance: Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all operational activities.
*Operations: Achieve optimum production levels in line with commercial activity at the lowest operation cost. Continually help the site Management to advance operational improvements to improve efficiency with the production functions. To maintain good working relationships and communication between the management and employees and notify the Site Manager if problems are developing. To ensure that all roads, and buildings within the site boundaries are kept in a good state of repair and general housekeeping conveys a tidy, presentable company image. Ensure Lands Net inspections are carried out and signed off monthly.
*Distribution: Working with the Weighbridge/ logistics team to ensure operational procedures are such that highest customer service levels can be achieved at the most efficient operational cost.
*Quality: Working with the Quarry Manager and technical team to ensure operational procedures are such that the highest quality levels are achieved at the most efficient operational cost.
*Budgeting/ Forecasting: Ensure Quarry Manager is fully informed of any costs that are likely to effect his profit and the performance of the unit in order for the day to day activities outlined above to operate effectively, the roles also involves a number of wider aspects, including;
*Resource Planning: Ensure that your site teams are adequately resourced and that personnel are trained and developed to a highly competent standard in line with IMS procedures.
*Directing: Provide leadership to the site teams, ensuring that operational goals and expectations are understood and achieved.
*Controlling: Ensure operational control mechanisms are effectively implemented covering all relevant aspects ,including Health & Safety, environmental controls

Constantly seek to improve the efficiencies and existing performance levels.

*The safe and efficient operation of all plant Mobile &Static , ensuring all use of energy is monitored and reduced where possible.
*Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
*Compliance with all relevant Quality Assurance Procedures.
*Compliance with Environmental Legislation
*Maintaining & revision of Plant Training, working with site Management
*Support your team and Management with day to day activities
*Maintain IMS site page and work in line with procedures

4.Job requirements

The role holder is expected:
*to comply with all aspects of the Compliance Policy
*to ensure that all the business/operations are performed in accordance with instructions and procedures and in such a way so as to prevent any fraudulent activities taking place
*to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation
*to update all areas of knowledge as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to attend training/development courses as and when required to keep competency for appointment as 81
*to comply will all aspects of the HR Policies and Procedures of the Company
*Knowledge of both Static and Mobile plant, experience in managing plant required
*Control of contractors, experience supervising Contractors required
*Knowledge of all products
*Computer skills
*Be able to operate Mobile plant FEL / ADT
*Able to operate a Weighbridge to despatch sales in line with the rules

*Minimum 3 years relevant operational experience
*NVQ Level 4 / QCF level 6 in SHE quarry operations or working towards one
*Member of IOQ, CPD being achieved
