Manpower is recruiting for a Production Operative for a four week temporary period, within a leading manufacturing company, based in Royston.

You will be responsible for working within the Hot Wire department which involves manufacturing alloy wires or a number of products including plugs and medical devices. The processes used include forging, swaging and hot-drawing.

The key accountabilities of the role include:
*Hot processing of precious metals using hot forging, hot swaging and hot and cold wire drawing.
*Heat treatment utilising furnaces, oxy-hydrogen torches and resistance heating.
*Grinding operations.
*Preparation of drawing lubricants.
*Machine set up and operation of precision cutting machines.
*Submitting quality samples and preparation of inspection documentation.

You must have good vision, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and smooth, precise manual manipulation. Patience and attention to detail is a key requirement along with strong team, interpersonal and communication skills. You must have an ability to work to tight deadlines to meet production targets and have a flexible approach to work, be a team player and help support other departments when required. An ability to take accurate measurements is required. Due to the nature of the role there is a restricted metals policy in place and the role would be unsuitable for anyone with Nickel sensitivity. Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm and Friday 8am to 12:30pm.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a light engineering, production or manual assembly environment with Maths and English GCSE grade C or equivalent. A science or technical GCSE or equivalent would be an advantage, but not essential.
