PHP Developer

Description of Role

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Developer responsible for building APIs, websites and managing the data of millions of small businesses around the world.

Being a good developer is much more than just being able to write code and we are looking for someone who is able to contribute at all stages of development, from initial design and analysis right through to testing and quality assurance.

Essential skills / experience

* 4+ years of development experience with PHP and Node.JS (or nat1ve JavaScript)
* 5 + years commercial experience minimum, in PHP (at least)
* Experience with PHP frameworks (not including Wordpress), Laravel preferable
* Experience with Node.JS preferable however, JavaScript is acceptable
* Experience of mySQL and NoSQL (Preferably CouchDB) databases
* Experience of RESTful APIs
* Comfortable using HTML5 and CSS3
* Comfortable working with common data structures such as JSON and XML
* Comfortable working with 3rd party APIs
* Comfortable using HTML5 and CSS3

Desired skills / experience

* Experience building "API first" applications
* Experience working in an Agile process
* Experience of building and maintaining automated tests
* Experience of building large and scalable applications
* Knowledge of MVC (and similar separations of concerns)
* Comfortable in a unix environment (unix/Linux/Mac OS)
* Comfortable with Git version control
