The M&E engineer's role is to support the Maintenance and Compliance Manager and Senior Site Engineer in delivering maintenance, reactive repair and minor works whilst ensuring the health and safety of the environment for the students, staff and visitors. The M&E Engineer will work as part of a wider team and will report to the Maintenance and Compliance Manager. The post holder needs to be aware of the nature of the spaces and to be able to work with a diligent and professional attitude. A key purpose of the role is to carry out duties to ensure service level agreements and statutory requirements are met. The role holder will have a commitment to providing excellent customer service to enhance the estate and the student experience alongside working with internal and external stakeholders and tenants on a regular basis.Staff should be able to demonstrate skills and a willingness to cope with a variety of routine and reactive tasks.

The role also requires an ability to respond immediately to requests.All members of staff are required to be aware of the environment and to be active in communicating and cooperating with other staff and departments, this includes assisting with other tasks as required. They need to be prepared to work in accordance with the equality and diversity plan, comply with health and safety and safeguarding rules and abide by all guidelines, procedures and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

- To carry out all physical and visual checks to site plant, equipment and plant areas as required; Attend reactive calls and breakdowns and solve/diagnose any mechanical / electrical failures; 

-To carry out system checks as required;To conduct routine Planed Preventive Maintenance (PPM) as required; 

- To conduct reactive maintenance as required; Carrying out emergency maintenance tasks as required by the line manager, or other authorised person, after risk assessments have been carried out to ensure it is safe to do so; 

- Undertake small works and installation projects as required;

- Planning, prioritisation and completion of such work in accordance with service level agreements;

- Support in the provision of estimates, site measurements, cost control information for additional works as required;

- Liaise as necessary with site representatives and colleagues, and resolve any matters which may arise; 

- To update spares list and monitor stock levels;

- Provide accurate information and regular progress updates as required by management;

- Liaise with both internal and external customers; 

- Undertake such duties considered essential for the effective operation of the campus;

- Undertake any training as required and ensure working knowledge is kept current;

- High level condition assessment and reporting to support ongoing asset management activities;

- Ensure all necessary paperwork required both manually or electronically, are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This includes work requests, PPM schedules, stores requisitions, allocation of hours and any other required for legislation or safety purposes
