My client is recruiting for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join an exciting company who are growing dramatically. The role of Project Manager is to organise, lead, manage and co-ordinate multiple concurrent capital programme plant installations, typically £1/2 million each. You will be charged with deploying safe, configure-to-order system solutions at food processing facilities, with involvement starting during the sales process and ending with customer sign-off and hand-over to customer service.

You will be proactive, experienced, committed and driven, with the capability and ambition to enable and benefit from opportunity to scale. This role occasionally requires time spent working at our customers sites, in the UK, during evenings and weekends which is paid as overtime.



Key Requirements for the role include:

  • Proven record of successfully delivering capital projects within the food industry;
  • Build strong customer relationships, providing excellent customer service;
  • To lead, manage and co-ordinate projects effectively;
  • To deliver project KPI's and milestone targets;
  • Work closely with sales to understand required features and to partner in the development of innovative solutions to meet customer requirements;
  • Communicate effectively and provide regular, accurate progress reports;
  • Mitigate risks through detailed planning and applying processes consistently;
  • Ensure continuous learning feedback is effective and that performance continually improves;
  • Commercial management of sub-contractors;
  • Ensure all RAMS are reviewed and logged;
  • Technical management of additional work required on-site;
  • Prepare and validate budgets, maintain accurate cost reports and cost-to-complete forecasts;
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams including chemists, engineers, buyers, account managers, quality controllers and outside vendors;
  • Ensure all works comply with CDM and food safety requirements;
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity combined with the desire to seek knowledge when required;

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Technically trained, practical engineer, minimum HNC, preferably BEng/MEng
  • 8 years + project management experience ensuring completion on time, within budget, to agreed scope and meeting customer expectations
  • Working knowledge of engineering construction specifications and standards
  • Ability to apply sound engineering principles to design projects and provide technical contribution on specific site solutions
  • Able to collaborate and encourage colleagues to build a culture of performance. Excellent decision maker and able to delegate effectively
  • Organised, able to manage time and effectively prioritise tasks
  • Consistently set high standards of behaviour and strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated; able to work under pressure
  • Flexible about working hours & time away from home
  • Previous capital project and site engineering experience in the food industry
  • Experience preparing project budgets, scopes and managing sub-contractors
  • Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and UK health and Safety best practice
  • Valid UK Driving Licence

In return you will be offered a salary of £50,000 -60,000 per annum depending on experience with an annual bonus of 5% of salary. Please apply online or contact Lianne for more details.
