Mechanical Design Engineer, 6 Month Fixed Term Contract - Portsmouth

£30,000-£35,000

Monday to Thursday - 8.5 hours, Friday - 4.5 hours

Manpower are delighted to offer an opportunity to work for one of our most prestigious clients based in Portsmouth; the position is to work for a highly respected business that offers Engineering and Technology Services to the defence, energy and communications industry.

Our client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established team based at Portsmouth.

The role of the Mechanical Design Engineer is to be responsible for the design, draughting and final production of engineering drawings using CAD software. You will be taking basic project ideas and producing detailed designs for bespoke equipment, framework and enclosures.

To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated team player who is HND/Degree qualified and ideally but not essentially worked within a defence environment. In addition, you will be expected to have the following:

• HND/Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical
• Substantial design office experience and be a proficient user of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software (Inventor)
• Knowledge of routing cables and wires for noise reduction.
• Knowledge of critical aspects (emc, shock etc.) related to the design of equipment for military applications.
