An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our client Unilever are currently looking for a Assistant Factory Finance Manager based at Unilever's prestigious facility in Port Sunlight. This is a full time temporary role, starting ASAP, for a period of 12 months, working a 40 hour week, paying up to £43,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job:
* To lead Performance Management within the Factory, responsible for all costs and controlling the financial health of the Factory.
* To Business Partner the Factory operations & management teams to make timely, strategically aligned and value maximising decisions.
* To manage a broad set of complex financial & management accounting financials, within a challenging operational & business environment.
* To support the development and implementation of projects to drive cost competitiveness and drive efficiency.
* To bring energy, motivation and challenge to both the finance & factory teams in order to grow whilst achieving both personal and business goals.
* To play a key role streamlining, improving and simplifying ways of working & processes within the finance team and broader business.
* To play a key role in the finance community within the European Supply Chain, working with virtual teams across Europe, sharing best practice, and supporting the Finance Manager / Finance Director

Main Accountabilities
1. Performance Management
* Lead performance management by providing actionable insights to the Leadership team to drive cost competitiveness & efficiency improvements.
* In charge of controlling factory budgets, providing detailed insights into cost drivers & variances, and leading action plans to deliver the result.
* Month End closure activities to ensure results are on time, accurate and in line with financial controls.
* Reporting on Factory performance to the Regional Supply Chain office in Switzerland - explaining key drivers in performance, along with risk mitigation plans and support required to land opportunities.
* Build and develop relationships with other Sourcing Units in Europe to ensure that all processes are at benchmark levels.

2. Business Partner the Factory Operations team
* Lead stakeholders to make timely, effective, strategically aligned and value-maximising decisions on business operations and investments
* Establish economically sound goals, and provide plans, forecasts, measures and processes for which help guide the business to the achievement of these goals.
* Provide support and training to non-finance teams in order to raise financial awareness within the factory
* Develop/streamline training documentation for current systems/processes for both internal finance use and in the broader factory teams.

3. Annual Planning and Monthly Forecasting
* Forecast the Annual Business Plan and Monthly Forecast, together with the site leadership team, to deliver improvements in cost competitiveness and improved efficiency.
* Business Partner with various departments to gather all inputs needed to prepare the annual plan, challenging assumptions in order to build a robust plan
* Work closely via virtual team with the European Shared Service Centre to ensure complete and timely running of the ABC process to calculate accurate product costs
* Analyse the output of product costs, detailing reasons for movements and present back to the Regional Supply Chain office in Switzerland

4. Capital Budget Management
* Control capital expenditure budget for the factory, challenging the team on trade off discussions to drive affordable capex levels.
* Work closely with Engineering teams to calculate, review and approve all financial data (DCF, Payback, etc.) within the project business cases

5. Financial Reporting
* Ensure that all financial postings in factory accounts comply with Unilever accounting procedures.
* Complete Cost Centre reviews, reconciliations and commentary.
* Provide ad hoc reports on Union, restructuring (FTE, savings), forecasting (Cost Conversion), obsolete, site specific presentations for business partnering, loss trees.
* Ensure that all information leaving the finance team is accurate/reliable/timely and is fit for purpose

6. Internal Controls
* Manage processes and systems to record and authorise transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
* Apply basic accounting principles to generate routine financial reports that support Unilever's Accounting Policies and local GAAP / fiscal regulations
* Balance Sheet and P&L integrity (SARBOX control) to provide reconciliations and commentary to National Finance office when required.
* Achieve and maintain effective costing results through transactional accuracy in SAP.
* Maintain accurate system stocks through various local IT environments

7. Information systems:
* Apply information management processes to create value for the business.
* Ownership of local cost centre structures within SAP
* Continual development of SAP reporting knowledge
* Extraction of data on an ad hoc basis

Critical success Factors for the Job
* Strong communication skills in both verbal and written.
* Natural leadership skills with the ability to lead peers and stakeholders within the business.
* Good analytical skills to be able to interpret complex information and come to rational findings
* A degree in accounting (CIMA, ACCA etc.) or part qualified.
* A meaningful commitment to personal and professional development, a desire to grow further within in the organisation
* Application level of IT skills with particular depth knowledge of the use of the SAP would be desirable
* Proficient in Excel i.e. ability to utilise Excel to its maximum, to process and order large amounts of data efficiently and with integrity
