1.Mission & role of the function

To ensure the optimal weekly and day-to-day scheduling of the sites assets in order to meet budgeted and forecasted demands. The primary focus will be on the safe operation of the unit and the day to day planning of all processing activities in order to meet the daily production volumes and customers' demand.
Focus also needs to be provided on the lowest cost, highest productivity whilst maintaining product quality. The role will also collate and review daily, weekly and monthly efficiencies and will use these to programme and schedule improvements throughout the unit.

2.Key accountabilities

*Programming and scheduling of the sites assets and employees
*Volume forecasting on a weekly and monthly basis
*Customer liaison and feedback (especially depots)
oVolume demand
oMonitor stocks and sales
oProduction issues
oAnd to advise on any issue of the above to the relative department and/or management
*Managing the utilisation of all process assets by the use of the KPI's and monitoring
oCycle times
oEfficient programming.
*Regular contact with other depts. about orders, customer information, distribution, production availability and coefficients.
*Liaise with sustainability department and advisors/managers..
*Manage and monitor certain schedules and cost elements
oBlasting Operations
oAgency - if applicable
*Fuel and lube usage and purchasing via company agreed contracts
*Weekend duties as per a rota system
*Weekly sales approvals
oConfirm all CDRF forms on a daily/weekly basis are correct prior to approving.
*Regular liaison with other departments who have an interest in quarry activities.
*A general administrative requirement for the operation of the department, such as general notices, sustainability alerts, PI's and PO's as required.
*To carry out occasional other site visits from time to time as required..
*Undertaking other specific and reasonable tasks or responsibilities as may be required from time to time.

3.Job dimensions

*The role will be managing all day-to-day H&S, HR and process activities of one process shift.
*The role will manage daily/weekly volume forecasts and capacities to avoid customer shortfalls in stock.
*The role will be the main customer contact for their one shift, but be available for other shifts during absence.
*The role will issue orders to subordinates.
4.Job requirements

The job will require knowledge of the aggregates industry, and an understanding on how good planning will increase utilisation of the sites assets to ultimately increase productivity. This role will require additional out of hours working. The job will often require rapid thinking to manage situations for both supply and utilisation; all decisions will have to be made within the parameters of company policies. Good forward planning and communication is essential to manage the sites employees and assets and customer base.

The role holder is expected:

*to ensure that all the business/operations are performed in accordance with instructions and procedures and in such a way so as to prevent any fraudulent activities taking place
*to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and Quarry Regulations 1999, to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation
*to update all areas of knowledge as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to attend training/development courses as and when required
*to comply will all aspects of the HR Policies and Procedures of the Company
*obtain and maintain explosive supervisor status

Previous knowledge and experience of production planning within the aggregate industry is essential. An understanding of the demands and issues for scheduling of transport for delivery to customers requirements is also needed.

Applicants should have an organised but flexible approach and be able to work on their own initiative. Good understanding of computers will be needed to carry out reporting and monitoring functions. DAP's, NVQ & NEBOSH qualifications would be preferable
