Overall purpose of post
The overall purpose of this post is to proactively chase debtors for outstanding debt via outbound and inbound telephone debt collection and other methods of communication, maximising collection rates within the required service level.

General description
The post holder in addition to debt collection experience will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills speaking in a clear and concise manner, good interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills. You must be positive and self-motivated and able to work very closely with the team. You will have the ability to effectively deal with difficult and complex telephone conversations whilst remaining calm whilst always ensuring that the best outcome is achieved for the client and debtor.

Detailed responsibilities
Main responsibilities
1.1To make outbound and receive inbound calls from debtors.
1.2To negotiate payments and/or arrangements over the telephone analysing debtors financial status to maximise debt recovery, whilst ensuring that service standards and client guidelines are maintained.
1.3To use IT systems for recording the outcome of contact with debtors effectively and accurately.
1.4To return abandoned calls in line with agreed targets.
1.5To ensure a high standard of professional practice is met at all times.
1.6To ensure overall performance and targets are met and reporting any issues to Team Leader/Manager.
1.7Assisting with Administration Duties within the team.
1.8To substitute other members of staff within the department.

Data protection and information security
2.1To adhere to the requirements of the Data Protection Act in respect of confidentiality, security and disclosure of personal data.
2.2To comply at all times with company Information Security Management (ISMS) policies and procedures.
2.3To report any suspected incidents or any observed weaknesses with the company Information Security Management System to your Line Manager or the Information Security Manager immediately.

3.1To be aware of and adhere to ALL Company Policies at all times.
3.2To be aware of the general responsibilities as set out the in the Health & Safety Policy.

4.1The post holder is expected to carry out, any other duties reasonably expected with the general level of the post.
4.2The post holder will be subject to clearance of CRB and CCJ checks.
