South Central Ambulance Service is looking for a number of call handlers to join their fast paced contact centre in Bicester. In this role, you will take 111 calls offering the best service on every call as you provide support to the general public.

We're looking for individuals with good judgement, who are able to make informed decisions as you'll need to discern the severity of calls and provide appropriate support over the phone. This will include providing First Aid information, dispatching ambulances and passing on information to relevant services. We require a minimum of 2 GCSE's (or equivalent) in Maths and English, alongside demonstrable customer service experience.

We offer a 12 week training and support programme, compromising of 4 weeks of classroom training and 8 weeks of on the job support, and continually encourage the development of our employees. Once you've completed your initial training we also offer a 25% pay increase for shifts worked from 7pm - 7am and weekends.

The site is operational 24/7 365 days a year, so applicants will need to be flexible to cover required shifts. An example rota includes a mix of shifts working mornings, days, evening and nights. Days off also vary weekly, but some weeks you can expect to have 4 days off, while other weeks you will be required to work 6-7 days - this will average out to full time hours every nine weeks , meaning if you work more hours some weeks there will be less in others. Part time roles are also available.
