The Salvation Army need temporary cover for a Communications Officer based in Leeds to start as soon as possible for approximately 6 months.

You will be required to promote the work of The SA in the media through traditional and new media channels, support the Head of PR and Communications and colleagues in the PR and Communications office to deliver and implement external communication strategies, and deliver and support the achievement of national, regional and local media coverage.

You will also be required to draft, edit and distribute cross-platform materials for external media, actively sell in stories to the media, set up media interviews with representatives and clients, and support internal stakeholders with their media work, as well as draft plans for designated media campaigns and opportunities, and identify, interview and maintain case studies for use in internal and external media to promote key messages and campaigns.

The ideal candidate will have experience within charity communications, including dealing with clients, proven capability in reputation management and providing briefings to senior leaders/managers, and experience of selling in to media.

Travel within service centre region to attend meetings, events and briefings will be required. Some meetings may be during evenings or weekends. There will also be a requirement to spend a few days in London for an induction.

Travel costs will be paid for; a mobile phone and laptop will also be provided.
