Are you a Continuous Improvement professional?

Do you have over 3 years experience of implementing techniques and methodologies to support lean manufacturing and create a culture of continuous improvement?

You will be interested in a contract interim appointment and the rare opportunity to join the onsite Continuous Improvement team at the very start of a new manufacturing plant's operational life, where you will help create a culture and shape the processes of lean manufacturing, building efficiency throughout the site operations.

Our client is a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals, with over 47000 employees, in 80 countries supplying decorative and specialist paint solutions to customers worldwide.

You will support the start up and production opertaions of this new large scale pant and state of the art paint manufacturing facility based in Ashington, North East UK. Working within a team of highly skilled and focused Operational and Engineering staff, reporting into the Management team onsite, you will enjoy a forward thinking culture and progressive environment.

The main purpose of this role is actively improve HSE&S, Sustainability and Quality standards on shift through engaging with whole shift team and use of continuous improvement methodologies.

Activities the role include:
Working with Production Managers and Supervisors to support the use of statistical analysis and appropriate lean processes (DCR-M) to identify areas of improvement, or root cause of failures, then work with site leaders to develop plans to realise the benefits and sustain as part of the daily leaders standard work.

To coach and develop the workforce to never be satisfied with current performance - supporting them to make small continuous steps forward. Ensures appropriate steps are taken to continually improve the engagement of the workforce with the Lean way of working. Ensure training and operating standards are visual and written by everyone as part of the drive for continuous improvement and knowledge transfer across cell, shifts and site.

Knowledge + Experience:
Experience of working within a Continuous Improvement team
Accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (Highly Desirable)
Experience of applying statistical process control techniques
Experience of use of the Lean tools
Experience of paint manufacturing would be advantageous

Technical Competence:
Lean Manufacturing Principles / Continuous Improvement / Lean Six Sigma
Commercial Awareness
Problem solving

Good communication skills - both written and oral
A self-starter, high motivated, great attention to detail and accuracy
Works well under pressure, with a flexible approach to work and a finisher completer of tasks
