Manpower are currently recruiting for a Server, Network and Infrastructure support engineer to join their Client - an on-site delivery specialist for multi-vendor products and services.

The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a team providing Server, Network and Infrastructure support within two London based datacentres.
Ideally we are looking for a cabling engineer but depending on the successful candidate's experience/knowledge of DC's, server support, etc., The client would be implementing a progression plan (server training, etc.) which would enable the basic salary to be increased as a planned progression.

This work is varied and will be required to work a shift rotation which will include nights - the layout of this is to be confirmed.
Cabling responsibility will be networking (cabling, patching, etc.) In addition there will be the requirement to assist with general IMAC activities common in the data centre environment.
The role will involve performing hardware break fix and IMAC engineering work on multi-vendor servers - H.P.E., Oracle and I.B.M. equipment.

Activities include installations; de-installations; maintenance and repair but also provide a number of 'value added' services typical with site based engineering.

The successful candidate should be flexible, proactive and have the ability to communicate with the customer at all levels. They should be able to demonstrate good administrative skills, possess good written and verbal communication skills. Essentially be prepared to deliver the level of service this customer demands and generally have a "can do" attitude. They should be prepared to assist in covering other locations when required and be prepared to work closely with their colleagues to ensure the customer receives the best possible service.

The tasks will include (but not limited to):

*Working with on-site team to set-up, rack, Re-calibrate, and maintain Network & Telecom equipment, Cabling Fibre and Copper using various test and measuring equipment
*Support troubleshooting of the network devices
*Coordinate and manage escalations for data issues with supplementary Service Providers performing additional data services.
*To install, maintain and repair customer equipment on an on-site shift basis
*To configure system hardware; to assemble and integrate system/product and verify system/product operation
*To use pro-active monitoring procedures to identify problem-prevention opportunities

Required skills and attributes

*Similar level as CCNA
*Basic knowledge of DC voltage
*Ability to use tools and measurements which are compliant with approved certification process for infrastructure cabling fibre and copper
*Must have a strong understanding of all major aspects of systems and network equipment HW and FW/SW & knowledge of multiple platforms,
*Knowledge of Cisco, Avaya, Checkpoint UTM (Unified Threat Management), Quest Software (Rebadged Dell), TCPWave (Rebadged Dell), Palo Alto Network Device (firewall), Bluecoat / Arcsight, Guardian (Rebadged Dell), NAS Filers components (Hard disk drives, PCI cards, ESM modules, PSUs), HSM Security Modules (Safenet / Thales / etc), NetApp, Stratus, Juniper, F5-BIG IP, Solace, Maxeler
*Must have very strong knowledge of HPE ISS products including Proliant DL and BL servers (accreditation preferred)
*Strong hands on experience working, building and supporting both Oracle and I.B.M. (x86) servers

It will be desirable for the applicant to own:

*H.P. server accreditation
*Technical associate's degree or equivalent experience and 2-4 years related experience.
*Working knowledge of protocol analysis tools
*Intermediate troubleshooting and problem solving phone skills. Uses quantitative data to draw conclusions.
*Intermediate computer skills with the ability to utilize computerised work order systems to perform issued work orders. Also maintains inventory of all associated parts.
*Network technicians will be trained to CAT 5/CAT 6 certification standards
*UTP and Fibre optic cabling installation, testing, and repair
