Family Learning programmes are delivered in partnership with schools and children's centres across Lincolnshire. The role of the Family Learning Tutor is to provide Family Learning programmes for specified target groups, using appropriate methods to promote learning and achievement. Duties
- To plan, prepare and deliver accredited and non-accredited Family Learning courses using schemes of work, session plans and a variety of methods and approaches to enable and support learning.
- To carry out and record initial and on-going assessment in order to identify learning and support needs, progress and achievement.
- To assist learners in setting realistic outcomes and record these in their Learning Diary.
- To teach using a variety of relevant teaching and learning methods to enable and support individual learning. - To produce course resources and materials appropriate to the needs of learners.
- To develop and embed Functional Skills into teaching sessions.
- To work with learners to promote regular attendance, punctuality and progression to further learning and volunteering opportunities.
- To monitor, assess, give regular, clear and constructive feedback and record the progress and achievement of learners.
- To undertake course reviews with learners.
- To assess and mark course work as required by the scheme of work and appropriate awarding body.
- To maintain a course file of Family Learning paperwork that includes scheme of work, session plan, resources, assessment plans and records relating to teaching, learning and achievement and ensure they are kept to date.
- To take responsibility for the Health and Safety of learners and comply with Health and Safety requirements within the work area and report any concerns to the staff responsible for the site.
- To ensure equality of opportunity for all learners, by removing barriers to learning and encouraging learner autonomy, taking into account cultural diversity.
- To participate in observation of teaching, learning and assessment in order to achieve continuous improvement
- To provide impartial information, advice and guidance during and at the end of the course, including information on progression
- To identify individual learning needs and promote all forms of Learner and Learning Support including childcare, learner support funds and arrangements for support oflearners with disabilities.
- To contribute to the measures to improve the attendance retention and achievement rates of learners on the course.
- On completion of the course to provide a course review
- To attend Tutor and curriculum development meetingsFamily Learning Tutors report to the Comunity Learning Officer. Tutors are required to have an advanced level of specialist knowledge, expertise and skills relating to education. Tutors are also required to have a good working knowledge of IT.
Experience of working in the Lifelong Learning Sector is desired.
