Overview and Background of role

Our client, one of the leading energy providers is looking for a Community Relations Officer who will work closely with managers to ensure timely accurate and consistent communications with local residents and stakeholders so that they are informed and engaged throughout the construction period of a nuclear power station. In addition, the chosen candidate will liaise with other local teams and with representatives to ensure that the project's engagement with the local community is presented coherently.

Principal Accountabilities:

*Support managers and team members in delivering empathetic community relations and developing 3rd party and public advocacy.
* Liaise closely with the community relations teams, ensuring consistent and cohesive communications for the nuclear sector in the South West.
* Liaise closely with, support and develop the communications strategies of certain teams that have an external facing role, together with representatives of the relevant statutory bodies to ensure that the project's external engagement is presented coherently.
* Lead work to develop and deliver an annual stakeholder survey with the market research team.
* Deliver external presentations and support other teams in delivering such events within the programme.
* Manage and deliver the requirements of the 'Bringing Nuclear to Life' strand of the Company Makers programme under the overall direction of the head of department.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

General education:

* Degree qualification in relevant subject or able to demonstrate commensurate experience


* A dynamic communications professional, experienced in delivering strategies to engage stakeholders ranging from the general public to MPs.
* Producing a broad range of written communications to the highest standard. Ability to provide expert communications advice and support to senior managers and technical teams.
* Ability to carefully deliver particularly difficult messages to the public with confidence and integrity in a variety of genres including written and oral.


* A strong political and business acumen with a particular knowledge and interest in current UK energy policy.
