Manpower is recruiting for a Clinical Coder on an initial temporary basis with the potential to be extended, within an NHS location, in Swansea Area.
The purpose of the job role is to analyse, interpret medical terminology as written by clinicians and professions allied to medicine in order to translate into a statistical code using the International Statistical Classifications of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD10) and the National Classification of interventions and Procedures (OPCS 4).

You will apply the four step coding process accurately and consistently to all relevant source documents to ensure data is comparable across time for local and national use.

Your role will involve working within a fast paced team environment and duties will include but are not limited to:
* Apply the coding rules and principles of the current coding classifications in use to all Out Patient and Finished Consultant Episodes of Care to ensure all allocation to appropriate Healthcare Resource Group.
* Access local and national policy and procedure documents for clinical coding to support decision making.
* Access relevant electronic information sources to verify diagnosis/es and clarify interventions undertaken, coding to greatest specificity.
* Make use of appropriate national and local clinical coding query and research mechanisms to ensure coded data is accurate and complete.
* On achieving Accredited Clinical Coding status act as a mentor to junior Clinical Coders, informing Manager/Trainer of additional training needs.
* Adhere to the Health Records Case Note Tracking policy.

You must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy skills with the ability to communicate at all levels verbally and in writing. It is essential that you are a team player with a high level of organisational skills and a methodical approach. Due to the nature of the role, a high degree of confidentiality is required, along with relevant security clearances. Hours of work will be between Monday and Friday, however you need to be flexible to work on a Saturday, if required. Pay rates will vary dependant on experience.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working within a medical or hospital based administration environment and will be available to start work immediately.
