Would you like a role maintaining accommodation within The Salvation Army Social Service Centre?

Manpower is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Person / Caretaker / Handy Person to work on a temporary assignment within in a Hostel for the Homelessness Service of The Salvation Army, potentially becoming permanent! This position is to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30 - 16.30, (hours of work may change for the permanent position, to include one late shift a month, 2 - 10, and one Saturday morning).

The position involves the general maintenance of the centre to a very high standard and includes general day to day repairs, decorating, gardening, health and safety monitoring, dealing with contractors and order processing.

You will be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of surrounding drive and path ways and other internal and external Lifehouse areas used by public, colleagues, visitors and clients. You will be required to maintain all essential supplies, i.e. gas, water and electricity etc. and monitor usage, maintain all tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition and carry out emergency repairs as directed.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team offering supported accommodation to our service users, experience of a similar position would be beneficial but not essential. A good all-round, DIY, general maintenance skill and ability is required and completion of word document logs on the computer is also required.

The successful candidate will need to hold a full driving licence and is required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
