Our client currently has a rare opportunity for a Quarry Operative to join their team to play a key role in a hardworking team to assist with the production process within a high PSV hard rock quarry.

About the job:
Within you job as a Quarry Operative you will have a variety of tasks from day one. This will include anything from operating a heavy mobile plant, such as FELs, Excavators, Dumpers as well as operating fully PLC controlled fixed plants and manual labour for cleaning the plants. You will be responsible for carrying out the operational duties and inspections for the on site aggregate processing plant. Other duties on a day to day basis will include the use of manual & computer based systems for the production & distribution of aggregates from a wide portfolio of materials. In addition, you will need to be willing to undertake general maintenance duties & be prepared to work unsociable hours when required. Please note that if successful, you will also be expected to be available to work Saturdays as and when required.

About the ideal candidate:
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to gain multi-functional experience with the quarry operations division of a highly successful and reputable company. Whilst previous experience in such a role would be a great advantage with your application, it is not essential as full training will be given. However your CV will need to demonstrate an ability to work on your own initiative, a willingness to learn and an awareness of strict health and safety legislation as on a day to day basis you will need to work within the framework of the Health & Safety at work Act, Quarries Regulations (1999) & Environmental Legislation.
The ideal candidate would preferably have a good general education standard due to the volume of quarry regulation requirements to be fully understood and adhered to. Certification by MPQC on mobile plant and a NVQ level 2 in mobile plant operations will be required and completed for this role but training will be given for the right candidate. Standard IT skills and basic mechanical knowledge would be advantageous and proactive and flexible approach to work would suit this job well.
Salary is £8.66 p/h.

Hours of work are full time, 39.50 hours, Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 4.00 pm. Please note as stated above, there will be a requirement to work outside this shift pattern depending on the needs of the business.
