The specific nature of these tasks will be determined via discussions with the individual researcher/s to whom support is being provided.

To assist staff in their research. This will require planning, searching the literature, data collection, and assisting with the write up/presentation of findings. This might involve maintenance of data and findings and may involve the handling and protection of confidential and sensitive data.


*To assist in the organisation of meetings and workshops and the presentation of findings at relevant meetings.

*To liaise with students, staff, research participants and funders through-out each of the research projects.

*To be a member of the faculty of Business Law and Social Sciences community.

*To undertake any other duties, commensurate with the nature and grading of the post, that may be required.

Research Centre Skills
Centre for Applied Psychology: Good skills in conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research, good literature search skills, knowledge of SPSS, knowledge or willing to be trained to Matlab, knowledge or willing to be trained to eprime, knowledge or willing to be trained to NVivo, knowledge or willing to be trained to psychopy, knowledge or willing to be trained to Excel.

Centre for Critical Social Research Strategy: Experience in planning experiment, literature search, data collection and dissemination of findings.

Centre for Applied Criminology: Experience in planning experiment, literature search, data collection and dissemination of findings.

Centre for American Legal Studies: First rate legal research, citation and referencing skills; excellent command of written English; high degree of competence in Westlaw UK (preferably including Westlaw International) and LexisNexis. Willingness to learn the Bluebook US referencing standard. Willingness to present legal research findings orally to internal and external research and professional communities.

SREU: Ability to work as a member of a team. Able to communicate both written and verbally with a range of different people; Be well organised and able to participate in different types of data collection to include literature searches, focus groups and in-depth interviewing. Able to contribute to reports and academic articles (where appropriate). Be prepared to undertake administrative duties to support the research process. Have good time management skills and be able to work to specified deadlines.

Centre for Regional Economic & fiscal Development and InvestmenT ("CREDIT"): Ability to work as a member of a team. Able to communicate both written and verbally with a range of different people; Be well organised and be conversant with quantitative and qualitative data collection. An understanding and ability to analyse economic data is essential, whilst experience in public finance and accounting/taxation would be welcome. Able to contribute to reports and academic articles (where appropriate).

Centre for Brexit Studies: Ability to work as a member of a team. Able to communicate both written and verbally with a range of different people; Be well organised and able to participate in different types of data collection to include literature searches, focus groups and in-depth interviewing. Able to contribute to reports and academic articles (where appropriate).

*Experience of working as a research assistant or experience in conducting research in the areas highlighted in each research centre's strategy.
