This is your chance to be part of the Electrified Vehicle Product Development team for one of the country’s leading engineering companies, by joining Ford’s 2017 graduate programme.

Working with engineers from all over the world, you’ll help us to develop and implement integrated vehicle, powertrain and infrastructure solutions, to deliver Ford’s Smart Mobility and Electrified Vehicle strategies. It’s a varied, challenging, interesting role, giving you the opportunity to build relationships on an international level and work with fast-moving emerging technologies.

About the graduate programme

You’ll advance through a series of on-the-job placements; building the knowledge and skills you gained during your degree.  You’ll have the opportunity to develop in several different areas of Electrified Vehicle Product Development, including:

  • Engineering materials and design, powertrain performance, economy, control system design and emissions compliance
  • Electrified powertrain engineering, including hardware and software integration
  • Digital innovation, CAD, CAE and simulation
  • Vehicle electrical engineering,  including hardware and software integration
  • Testing, measurement, evaluation and verification
  • Manufacturing technology and processes
  • Body, chassis, and vehicle engineering

The placements will also give you the chance to develop your team building, people management and presentation skills, alongside project and quality management and understanding customer requirements.

You’ll be based at our flagship plant in Dunton, Essex, which delivers award-winning commercial vehicles, with a focus on improving fuel economy. But it’s a global team, so you may be required to travel to one of our overseas locations from time-to-time.

What’s in it for you?

As a Ford Graduate, you’ll receive a very competitive salary which can increase as you progress through our organisation. You’ll also receive 26 days annual leave a year (plus bank holidays), an annual holiday bonus payment, discounted rates on Ford cars (for you, and members of your family too), a pension plan, and onsite gyms at most Ford locations.

We’re committed to helping you build a long and rewarding career. So we’ll invest in your ongoing development and give you all the support you need to grow, through a variety of learning programmes.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who hold a few key qualities. You’ll recently have gained a degree in applied electrical, electronic, controls systems; software engineering; or computer sciences. You may also have a couple of years work experience, on top of the work experience/business placements you did as part of your degree.

You’ll be able to quickly learn new technologies and concepts, and will deliver complex system-level solutions. You’ll also be able to communicate clearly in writing, over the phone, and face-to-face, and you’ll have strong team working and leadership skills.

Do you want to go further with Ford? We’d love to hear from you. Apply here today.
