Being a Royal Mail Postperson

About the role

Your day will start in your local delivery office. Here, you'll prepare the mail for your route, before joining a colleague in a shared van to start your round. You'll deliver mail and parcels - and excellent customer service - to both houses and businesses. That means you'll quickly become the face of Royal Mail in your local community.

Each round takes around four hours to complete, so you'll spend most of your day on your feet. But don't worry, you won't be carrying a heavy bag - there's a delivery trolley to take care of that.

Who we're looking for

What we do really matters to people. So you'll enjoy being outdoors, delivering mail whatever the weather. As you can expect, there's plenty of walking involved, so you'll like the idea of a job that will keep you fit too.

Upbeat and self-motivated, you'll be happy working alone and as part of a wider team. Most of all, you'll have a strong sense of community. You'll enjoy getting to know the different customers on your round; delivering a great customer service will be second nature.

Some experience in a customer-facing role would be ideal. For roles that involve driving, you'll need a full driving licence with no more than six penalty points as well.
