HAMPSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL SIGNS
CONTRACT WITH MANPOWER
Manpower, the leading recruitment company, has
announced it has signed a three year contract to manage the supply
of all temporary staff to Hampshire County Council.
With immediate effect, Manpower has taken responsibility for managing
the supply of all temporary staff such as general administrative
and clerical workers, care workers, social workers and professional
staff such as surveyors, to all the County Council departments.
The new partnership has been designed to standardise,
formalise and streamline the ways in which the County Council
works with different temporary recruitment providers. Prior to
the contract award Hampshire County Council worked with over 130
recruitment suppliers providing temporary workers. The new agreement
will provide improved accountability, management information and
cost savings. In the first year, the improvement in value-for-money
is expected to be in excess of £250,000 and more is anticipated
in subsequent years.
Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber comments:
“We have a responsibility to deliver a wide range of public
services and to do this we require the right staff. We selected
Manpower for this contract following a rigorous tendering process
and believe they can help us access motivated and talented people
more effectively to provide valuable support for our existing
staff.
Peter Dixon, Head of Public Sector business at Manpower adds:
“The challenges local councils face in how to get the best
value and service from their recruitment process and HR function
is the same as with any organisation. Through utilising a best
practice approach with a focus on effectiveness and service delivery,
we’re confident that we can meet the needs of Hampshire
County Council.”
Manpower has significant expertise in working with public sector
clients and works with over 100 councils nationwide tailoring
the staffing solution to each client requirement. The company
is also a shareholder in Working Links, a public private partnership
organisation, helping the hardest to help groups back to work
by breaking down the barriers they often face. Since its creation
in 2000 Working Links has helped over 30,000 long term unemployed
people get back into work and stay in work; this makes it one
of the Government’s most successful deliverers of the back
to work agenda.
