Manpower UK recently hosted a delegation of high profile HR representatives from the Chinese government who were touring the UK to gather an insight into HR management in government, and private sector recruitment for the public sector.

Over twenty delegates from the Pudong Bureau of Personnel of Shanghai visited Manpower’s Victoria branch in the heart of London’s government district. The Victoria branch specialises in staffing solutions for central government, public sector and large organisations based in the Capital.

David Arkless, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Manpower Inc. and his team were at the branch to welcome the delegation, answering any questions and providing insights as required: "We were delighted to host our Chinese colleagues as part of an ongoing relationship we have with the governmental departments in Shanghai.

"Many of the delegates have human resources management positions within government departments. The visit therefore presented an ideal opportunity for Manpower to demonstrate how a private sector organisation can work with government to deliver workforce management solutions. At Manpower, we see tremendous value in sharing best practise with our international colleagues and hope that the Chinese Civil Service will benefit from this support."

Comments Christina Woodley, a Director at UEC Cross Culture Links: "We are grateful to Manpower for its ongoing support, and for continuously sharing its HR and civil service expertise with us. The delegation visiting this month from Shanghai found it particularly interesting to gather an insight into how public sector organisations in the UK outsource their human resource requirements to the private sector, as this service does not exist in Shanghai. "

Manpower has an ongoing relationship with various governmental departments in Shanghai. Manpower has hosted four previous visits from Shanghai government, including in 1997, from the Shanghai Labour and Social Security Bureau headed by Mr. Yan Youmin, Acting Deputy President, for recruitment issues; and in 1998 from the Shanghai Bureau of Personnel headed by Mr. Cai Zeren, Deputy President, for human resource issues.

Manpower is a world leader in the staffing industry, providing workforce management services and solutions to customers in 67 countries and territories around the world. In the UK, Manpower has significant expertise in working with public sector clients and over 120 government councils, tailoring staffing solutions to each client requirement.
