Holiday and Sick Pay Top Benefit to British Employees

Holiday and sick pay are more important than company pensions for nearly a third of people according to a new survey out today, carried out by Manpower, the UK’s leading HR and recruitment company. The online poll surveyed over 1000 jobseekers during May.
  •  50% said the benefit most important to them was holiday and sick pay while only 16% would prefer to receive a company pension.
  •  Just over 1 in 10 (11%) say that the most important benefit to them is a company loyalty scheme, offering high street shop discounts.
  •  22% of people surveyed stated their preferred benefit to be receiving time off in lieu for extra hours worked.
“These results are interesting in showing that people are less interested in receiving pensions compared to the core benefit of holiday and sick pay. Companies are increasingly becoming flexible with the benefits that they offer to employees. Be it a paid day off on your birthday to extra time off at Christmas, employees are having more choice in the workplace – essential in maintaining a happy and productive workforce,” comments Paul Harrison, Compensation and Benefits Manager for Manpower.

“It is important that temporary workers register with a reputable agency that will give them these benefits; unfortunately there are still some employers who could offer more benefits to their staff.”

Manpower provides a wide-ranging benefits package to all temporary and contract staff including: annual leave, sick pay, parental leave, staff deals on mortgages, life and personal accident insurance cover, and stakeholder pensions. Staff who are registered with Manpower also gain free access to over 1,500 training courses in Manpower’s online Global Learning Centre, in subjects as diverse as leadership, communication and customer service, as well as a wide range of IT skills.
