MANPOWER IMPROVES ONLINE UNIVERSITY
1100 courses available on Global Learning Centre

Manpower, the UK’s leading recruiter of flexible, contract and temporary workforce today announces improvements to its web-based university, the Global Learning Centre, having made many more of the courses interactive. All courses are available free to candidates currently registered with Manpower. Over 2000 people currently participate in courses on the Global Learning Centre every month.

The new courses are simple and enjoyable to use. Many of them contain an interactive element including role-playing and audio. Some example topics include Call Centre Skills, Presentation Skills, Advanced Sales and Communication Techniques and Website design. Candidates will now be able to improve their skills in areas as diverse as IT, communication and leadership.

Simon Harper, Manpower’s E-Marketing Executive commented:
“These improvements confirm our commitment to improving the skills of our staff. These course subjects are relevant to today’s business world and will enhance candidates’ career prospects with our clients. In today’s competitive jobs market it is essential that jobseekers are skilled to the best of their ability and Manpower is helping them achieve this.”

“Not many recruitment agencies can demonstrate such a commitment to e-learning for all. We believe the Global Learning Centre offers our candidates a great opportunity to become even more marketable. Because the Global Learning Centre is accessible online, they are able to participate in the training whenever it is convenient for them.”

Becci Rogerson (22 yrs) was a Mother wishing to return to work. Becci wanted to work in an office environment, however she had no previous office experience and prior to having her child she had worked in retail and hairdressing. When she approached Manpower’s Harlow branch they suggested she log on to GLC to gain some computer skills. As she didn’t have internet access she completed the courses in the branch. She began with Word and Excel for beginners and quickly reached the intermediate level. After successfully completing these courses she was offered a temporary position working in the Manpower branch for 4 months. Manpower then put her forward for a Customer Service role with a major high street bank where she further developed her career. Says Becci: “I would never have been able to find work in an office environment without Manpower's Global Learning Centre. The courses were really useful and really helped me."

Manpower‘s other leading internet services include a large stake in GoJobsite, the UK’s longest established and market leading multi-sector electronic recruitment channel.
