Electrician - Permanent Role

Location: HMP Nottingham, Sherwood, Nottingham (NG5 3AG)
Hours: 39 hours per week | Monday-Friday between 08:00-17:00
Salary: £29,009 - £35,015 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Electrician to join a Facilities Management team delivering essential services within a secure custodial environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring electrical systems are safe, compliant, and fully operational, supporting a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents.

You will work on a long-term, stable contract maintaining critical infrastructure across a large site.

Weekend working: 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional 15% allowance of basic salary.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including associated administrative tasks
  • Fault-finding and problem-solving on electrical systems across the site
  • Complete like-for-like replacements and minor electrical works
  • Conduct relevant electrical inspections and testing in accordance with BS7671, ensuring results are accurately recorded
  • Ensure all electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and fully functional
  • Support the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when required
  • Maintain strict compliance with Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work
  • Assist with escorting duties and other operational tasks as required

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • BS7671 18th Edition (17th Edition considered with upskilling support)
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
  • Experience in planned and preventative maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Good organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure to deadlines
  • Able to work at heights
  • Basic IT skills

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of fire alarm and CCTV systems
  • Experience working with electrical systems and compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations

Security Clearance

This role requires Prison Security Clearance, including a Standard DBS check. Full support will be provided throughout this process.
