Electrical Maintenance Technician
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Hourly Rate: £16.18
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join our client's Estates & Facilities team as an Electrical Maintenance Craftsperson, delivering high-quality, customer-focused electrical maintenance and installation across a diverse academic and residential estate. This role offers a stable environment with opportunities for growth and development.
What you'll be doing:
* Performing planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical building services, including lighting, power distribution, HVAC supplies, fire alarms, and building control systems.
* Conducting minor electrical installations and improvements across various properties, from historic buildings to modern facilities.
* Producing and issuing electrical test and inspection certificates in line with legislation and recognised standards.
* Diagnosing faults using diagnostic tools and Building Energy Management Systems to resolve issues and optimise system performance.
* Isolating electrical services, issuing permits to work, and reinstating supplies safely after maintenance.
* Organising your workload independently and supervising Maintenance Assistants or Apprentices when needed.
* Recording work accurately on maintenance systems and participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota (additional payment applies).
What you'll bring:
* City & Guilds Electrical Craft Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance or related discipline.
* 18th Edition (BS7671) certification.
* City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent qualification.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Strong fault-finding skills on electrical systems and building services.
* A proactive, polite, safety-conscious attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Desirable extras:
* Broader electrical qualifications or related pathways.
* Computer literacy for modern maintenance management systems.
* Membership of NAPIT and basic mechanical skills to support minor mechanical works.
