Software Engineer Project Manager
12-month contract
£70 to £75 per hour inside IR35 via umbrella

Our client is a leader in the development of Health Usage and Monitoring Systems (HUMS) for military and commercial aircrafts. They have been at the forefront of HUMS development since the 1990s, with successful implementation on Aircraft platforms such as the AW139, Seaking, Chinook and Wildcat. The role is to execute development projects for our customers using the HUMS associated software.

The Engineering Project Manager is accountable for leading project teams in the successful execution of small to mid-sized customer funded software application modifications at the Eastleigh site. This Project Manager will drive software engineering efforts and is accountable for achieving all scope, schedule and budget targets to the desired quality.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• A leader in safety on assigned projects including setting expectations and being visible in the field

• Responsible for developing and managing engineering / technology projects.
• Primary interface with internal/external customers to ensure organization resource allocation is made.
• Accountable to deliver the scope of work to the original cost estimate.
• Manages schedule, budget and integration of NPI and/or requisition projects, including influencing the projects to meet customer CTQs and hit tollgate milestones.
• Responsible for controlling customer scope and engaging to ensure changes are managed effectively with the customer.
• Leading the project team to deliver, driving accountability and effectively communicating status and challenges internally.
• Managing the project through EVMS principles and driving performance through metrics.

Essential Requirements

• Experience in Software development project management
• Experience with Customer Scope and change management.
• Experience with Application Software development
• Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent team management and relationship building skills.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Products, including Microsoft Project
• Knowledge of a project life cycle process

Desired Characteristics

• Experience within a regulated industry Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear
• Experience with Aerospace & Military certification standards DAOS, RTCA DO178
• Experience working with Military projects and license required information
• Experience with IBM ALM tool suite

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Sufficient industry project management experience in a controlled industry (Aerospace, Chemical Manufacturing, Energy, Defence)
