Electrical Design Engineer - Control Systems & Automation

This is a hands‑on Electrical Design Engineer role where you'll take ownership of electrical control system design, working closely with mechanical, software and production teams to deliver high‑quality machinery from concept through to commissioning.

What You'll Do:

  • Design bespoke electrical control panels for web‑transport and automation machinery
  • Produce detailed electrical schematics including control circuits, power distribution and safety systems
  • Create wiring diagrams for motors, drives, sensors, actuators, HMIs and field devices
  • Specify cable routing, connectors, field wiring schedules and termination details
  • Generate accurate Bills of Materials for all electrical components
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (IEC/EN 60204‑1, Machinery Directive, CE/UL)
  • Support panel build, testing, commissioning and fault‑finding activities
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, software and systems engineering teams
  • Work with suppliers to select reliable and cost‑effective components

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in electrical design for industrial control systems and machinery
  • Strong background in control panel design and electrical documentation
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical or similar)
  • Understanding of PLCs, VFDs, safety systems, motion control and industrial networks
  • Knowledge of machinery safety standards and automation best practices
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple engineering projects
  • Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering (degree, HND or equivalent experience)
