This position will be responsible for coordinating and implementing standard work with a Continuous Improvement mind set using Lean/MPS processes for the Planning & Logistics functions on site.

Activities within Role:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist is accountable for the following with in the Planning & logistic functions:
*Rolling out standard work,
*Ensuring process robustness,
*Embedding tacit knowledge in our standard work and
*Identifying & Eliminating waste.
*Scientific Problem Solving (SPS)
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will be required to collaborate, coach and facilitate Supply Chain Colleagues in the Planning & logistic functions on:-
*MPS tools and techniques to analyse and improve business processes
*Create and /or improve planning & logistics processes, mind-sets & behaviours through use of the Lean six sigma Toolkit
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will be an active member within the cross functional Team (IT, MPS, Planning & Logistics) providing support, guidance and expertise to ensure the success of the Area.
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will model the Company Leadership behaviours and understand the MPS principles to individually live a culture of continuous improvement to become a High Performance Organisation.
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will participate and comply with the MMD Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including ownership, as relevant to you.

Primary responsibilities:
*Recognize and implement continuous improvement activities to increase flexibility, eliminate waste, while maintaining product supply to internal and external customers.
*Scientific Problem Solving
*Ensure the highest Quality, Compliance and Safety standards
*Sound financial stewardship, management and control.
Continuous Improvements:
Responsible for driving a culture of Continuous Improvement by deploying Merck Six Sigma tools within the Planning & Logistics group
Coaching and Training:
Coaching others by sharing their skill-set and expertise.

Job Experience:
*Demonstrated knowledge in more than one pharmaceutical and/or chemical manufacturing operation (e.g. manufacturing, quality, engineering, etc).
*At least three years' experience in the Pharmaceutical industry or a similar operating environment with experience in a planning role in an operations environment.
*Knowledge of and experience in applying Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
*Demonstrated leadership and change management skills with a continuous improvement focus.

Qualifications:
*Degree or 3rd level qualification (Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Systems).
*Desirable evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
*Desirable for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
*knowledge of Business Information Systems

Skill Set:
*Demonstrated ability to fully realize improvement initiatives.
*Demonstrated successes in a team environment, such as project teams, Six Sigma team, PITs etc.
*Advanced PC skills in Excel.
*Stakeholder management of multi decision makers, colleagues, peers and cross functional teams.
