Job Details

The technical support team provides students with guidance for using a wide range of specialist processes involving wood, metal, ceramics, glass, plastics, laser cutting and 3D printing.

The role will involve a combination of digital technology and manual operated equipment to produce a range of projects associated with multiple art and media based disciplines, this includes architecture, product design, furniture, graphics, fashion, traditional print and media most of which will be exhibited within a public environment.

You will be required to provide basic technical support to staff and fellow students using the workshop area, ensure the space is used in a safe way and help the technical team with general housekeeping duties. This is a great opportunity to further develop your own technical understanding for 3-D work, whilst developing your interpersonal skills in a professional working environment.

Hours of Work:
10 hours / week / Student Monitor distributed over
Monday - Friday13.00 - 17.00
Work hours must not clash with course obligations and timetables.


Main duties:

*To provide basic technical support for students using practical 3D workshop facilities. Training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.
*The preparation of materials and reporting of any maintenance issues.
*Ensure that students finish in good time prior to the building closing.
*Ensure that students maintain a clean working area prior to leaving the workshop.
*To assist the workshop technicians in keeping the workshop clean and tidy and stock taking duties.
*To ensure that students use the workshops in a manner that is in adherence to all relevant health and safety procedures and guidelines
*Informing security immediately in the event of an accident or injury
