I have a position available for a Magnet Test & Installation Technician to join an independent company who design and Manufacture Superconducting Magnets and Cryogenic and ultra -low temperature systems, Duties will include:

*Test and servicing of cryo-magnetic and cryogenic systems and components.
*Performance of factory acceptance testing with visiting customers.
*Contribution to other areas of manufacturing to meet business objectives.
*Travel to customer sites to commission and service cryo-magnetic and cryogenic systems.
*Performance of site acceptance testing at customer facilities.

*Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
*Able to contribute to the updating of system operation manuals.
Key technical skills
*Familiarity with electrical wiring and soldering.
*Experience in unpacking and setting up cryostats for test or installation.
*Able to insert and set up/ exchange coldheads.
*Able to read and understand electrical schematic diagrams.
*Experience in pumping down cryogenic systems using rotary and turbomolecular pumps.
*Detailed understanding of the use of helium leak detectors.
*Experience in the external leak checking of cryostats and cryogenic systems
*Experience in the internal leak checking of 'wet' cryostats and cryogenic systems
*Experience in the use of power supplies and energising superconducting magnet systems.
*Experience in handling and transferring cryogenic gasses.
*A complete understanding of the health and safety issues associated with cryogenic systems and magnetic fields.
*Able to set up data logging equipment and software.
*Experience in analysing magnet test data and writing test reports.
Qualifications and experience
Essential experience
*A minimum of 3 years of experience as a superconducting magnet test and/or installation engineer.

Preferred qualifications
*Advanced Modern Apprenticeship
*NVQ Level 2: Electrical and Electronics Technology
*HNC: Electrical and Electronic Engineering
