Who you'll be working with
With incidents of cyber-crime frequently in the news, Capgemini's clients are increasing conscious of the need to protect their systems and data. The successful applicant for this role will join Capgemini's Inverness based UK Security Operations Team, which in turn forms part of the Company's Global Cybersecurity Unit.

The Highland Security Operations Centre (HSOC) has proven highly successful since its formation in 2014 and serves a range of government and commercial clients headquartered in the UK and Continental Europe.


The focus of your role
Cyber-attacks are often performed by exploiting known security vulnerabilities in a client's infrastructure.

Vulnerability Management aims to identify and mitigate known risks and is one of the key services delivered by the HSOC to a range of clients. Working within an established team you will be focused on assessing client infrastructure, identifying and researching threats and reporting on vulnerabilities to safeguard our client's networks.

The role is full time with a 37.5 hour week worked Monday to Friday Core Hours. As part of the mutualised HSOC team HMG security vetting clearance at SC level is required. Successful applicants not already in possession of SC will need achieve this during their probation period; HSOC staff will assist and advise.

Please note that whilst some opportunity to work from the Nairn office does now exist, all training will be done in Inverness. Inverness is the base location for this role and you will need to spend time with the bulk of the team who are based there. The HSOC does now have office space in Nairn and there are plans during 2018 to refurbish this into a second Highland SOC.

What you'll do
*Management of vulnerability scanning technologies and appliances for multiple clients
*Daily assessment of vulnerabilities identified via infrastructure scanning
*Attend remote project or BAU meetings and work-shops as required
*Conduct a variety of penetration tests on client systems
*Interaction with multiple global teams to discuss infrastructure and aim to reduce vulnerabilities
*Provide vulnerability analysis and produce reports for management
*Action ad-hoc scan requests
*Review and promote improvement across the service
*Prepare reports using various sources of data
*Update your knowledge by participating in training opportunities and research latest information security trends




What you'll bring
*Experience in network and/or server administration preferably including Linux/Unix systems
*A good understanding of the principles and concepts upon which Microsoft Windows polices are based, plus those behind Active Directory, SCCM & WSUS
*Experience in patching systems or knowledge of vulnerability management principles if possible including tools such as QualysGuard/Nessus
*An analytical mindset with skills essential for security investigation and management work
*A methodical and meticulous approach to your work with the ability to process large amounts of information to solve problems
*The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
*Experience with service management tools such as ITSM or Service Now
*Experience or an understanding of the principles behind at least some of the following areas:
oThreat Intelligence monitoring and escalation
oInterpretation of logs (e.g. OS and Network)
oIntrusion Detection/Protection (IDPS) Systems
oSecurity Information & Event Management (SIEM) platforms
oEnd Point/Antivirus Security
*German language skills would be extremely useful, but are not essential.
