Deskside Support Engineer II

A Deskside Support Engineer is sought after a high profile Blue Chip Technology client to work with a global medical product and technologies company in Reading. The role will require the successful individual to be the second level IT support for the client and the site, encompassing a wide range of duties from the physical setup of IT equipment through to the managing of local and international client projects, as well as VIP support.The IT Deskside Support Engineer may also be the primary liaison with vendors in areas relating to the IT infrastructure projects as well as assisting other teams in a wide range of activities for troubleshooting purposes while adhering to the company's metrics.

This is a great opportunity to join an established successful team working in a demanding environment. There will be a requirement at times to travel to the clients various other remote sites to provide hands on IT support.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Engineer must be happy to handle routine day to day tasks such as building PC's and network cabling while being capable of managing more complex people orientated tasks including vendor management and project management. Using a ticket based system to manage SLAs, & monitor Metrics.

The main duties include:-
* Wireless assistance for Visitors & Local users
* Keeping areas tidy (workstations, Cab rooms and any storage areas provided by client)
* Printer fleet management (consumables, fixing & arranging Vendor support etc.)
* File & Printer server management
* Ownership of tickets to resolution
* Hardware infrastructure & Management (e.g. Laptops, PC's, Printers, Faxes)
* LAN & WAN (e.g. Cabling, Cabinets, Access Points, Fibre, Switches)
* CISCO IP Phone System
* ASCOM Analogue Dect system
* Local Access Control System
* Video Conferencing Suite
* Break and Fix activities
* IMACs activities
* Remote Satellite offices support
* UCCX/QM call centre support
* Sales Force Support

SKILLS & QUALIFICATION
Engineer must be happy to handle routine day to day tasks such as building PC's and network cabling while being capable of managing more complex people orientated tasks including vendor management and project management. Experience and ability to Manage Hardware from delivery to users & Audit / Track Equipment. Ability to engage clients @ all levels from users to directors & VPs.

* PC/Desktop Support knowledge including Windows XP, Windows 7 & Windows Office Suites and core application suites.
* Administering Windows Share\File permissions.
* Mobile connectivity (E.g. secureID/MAS)
* Microsoft Certification (MCSE/MCSA/MCP's).
* Good knowledge of H P and Dell Workstation, Desktops & Laptops
* Accepts and handles responsibility.

* Willing to learn new skills.
* Works with minimum supervision.
* Solves personal and professional problems.
* Excellent Communication and People skills.
* Friendly phone manner.
