Hermes - Class 2 Driver - Night Shift

Hermes are one of the UK's largest Parcel delivery companies, they are looking for Class 2/HGV 2/Cat C drivers to join their team for the night shift.

The night shift starts at 11pm and is paying £13.00p/h. We are looking at immediate starts for the Christmas period - please apply for registration and start date.

The role will be delivering bulk packages and catalogues to Couriers and sub depots within a defined geographical area. You will be providing customer service whilst operating within a safe working environment and ensuring legal compliance.

During the quiet periods you will be asked to perform some warehouse duties including parcel scanning and packaging.

Responsibilities Include:

* To ensure that the delivery vehicles are maintained at all times to Company standards in terms of reporting of any defects to the vehicle.

* Ensuring that the vehicles are driven safely, well presented and all procedures and legal regulations are adhered to e.g. FTA regulations

* Maintaining integrity and ownership when handling packages, to make certain product is securely delivered to the correct address.

* Completing assigned deliveries within time allocated on the designated route. Initiative, knowledge and skill should be used to anticipate and resolve any day to day issues.

* Ensuring scanning compliance at all times with the accurate use of the hand held terminals

* Accurate completion of all relevant paperwork

* Ensuring all activities is undertaken in accordance with appropriate security and Health and Safety legislation and policies.

* Maintain a clean and tidy appearance together with a professional courteous manner to all customers and colleagues

* Maintaining contact with the depot, ensuring any issues are communicated throughout the day.

* Where necessary some warehouse duties will be required to meet the needs of the business, along with the manual handling of heavier and large items.

The shifts will be Sunday to Thursday and alternate Fridays. You may be required to be flexible to suit business needs when required.

Skills & Experience:

* Experience of driving 12 tonne vehicles and currently hold a C category/Class 2/ HGV2 driving licence (with no more than 6 points)

* Ability to deliver good customer service

* Organised and able to work on own initiative

* Holds a current Driver CPC Card

* Holds a current Digi Tacho Card

* Good geographical awareness and/or map reading skills

* Knowledge of digital tachographs and FTA regulations

* Knowledge of working time directive
