Role hours could include, 2pm-10pm

R & D Chemist with a Degree in Science required to support the R&D functions within AkzoNobel's Decorative Paint Business Area in Ashington.

We operate in a number of important market segments ranging from buildings and infrastructure to transport, industrial and consumer goods.

You will support and implement production trials at Ashington and proactively assist QC team in resolving day-to-day issues for the achievement of the technical objectives of the LTS MU team. You will also prepare and test paint using established test methods and procedures.
Additionally you will troubleshoot production batches and carry out root cause analysis. You will record all results clearly and accurately, analyse and interpret data. You will also communicate key results and conclusions to Project Leader and colleagues, making recommendations for next steps.

To be suitable for the role you will have developed excellent laboratory skills coupled with good health and safety awareness in a scientific practice. You will have strong MS office and communication skills, problem solving skills and an eye for detail. A degree in a science subject ideally chemistry is essential.
