Maintenance Engineer, Colwick, Nottingham

PURPOSE:

To assist the maintenance manager in the day to day running of the maintenance department. The role will encompass much of the departments administration work and includes the administration of the computerised maintenance planning system (COSWIN).

RESPONSIBILITY

Use various techniques to allocate resources for planned work (plant availability, labour, services and materials) and also provide technical input with respect to maintenance spares and stock, allowing the maintenance manager to focus on longer term reliability and safety issues.

CORE DUTIES

*Ensure the relevance of maintenance spares stock considering their availability, cost and frequency of use. Adding, removing or amending spares stock is within the responsibility of this role.
*Carry out the planning of plant outages and weekend maintenance work.
*Communicate the content of plant outages and weekend work to all relevant parties.
*Note: Final authorisation for direct purchasing of items or authorisation of overtime working will still remain the responsibility of the maintenance manager.
*Add/Remove / adjust the content of scheduled maintenance within COSWIN. Review the effectiveness of scheduled maintenance and adjust the contend accordingly.
*Amend the plant structure within COSWIN reflecting changes in plant layout and new or discarded equipment.
*Ensure the upkeep and relevance of the maintenance 'technical library' (i.e equipment manuals and drawings).
*Report various maintenance statistics as required.
*Provide training and coaching on COSWIN inside and outside the department.
*Provide general assistance within the department as required.

CORE COMPETENCIES

EXPERIENCE

*Maintenance or general engineering background

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

*Good numeracy skills with good computer
*Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
*Ability to think and plan strategically
*Good MS Office skills

INTERPERSONAL QUALITIES

*Methodical and capable of setting up and working to procedures.
*Ability to work on own initiative and with minimal supervision
*Good time management skill

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS / FLEXIBILITY

*Regular overtime commitment is not a part of this role but some overtime working may be required from time to time.
