Electrical Maintenance Technician

As part of year on year growth & a recent move to a brand new, state of the art, clean facility, my Client is growing the Maintenance Team & is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Technician to work at its Wigan site.

With a 20 year growth plan ahead, this Client is one to be a part of.

The role of Electrical Maintenance Technician is offered on continental shift patterns of 2 days, 2 nights & 4 days off. There is plenty of overtime available on them 4 days off too, payable at 1.4 usual pay rate (making a great impact on the salary). You should be flexible to offer additional cover in time of sickness, holiday and extreme workload.

The facility is 90% automated, utilising modern features & offering the opportunity to work with brand new, state of the art equipment, to manufacture products seen in every household, from a variety of well-known brands..

You will be a team player, flexible in your approach to your duties & always offering to go the extra mile to ensure the 24/7 operation runs smoothly.

You will ideally have experience similar to the environment. I am therefore looking to speak with Electrical/Multi Skilled Maintenance technicians from a FMCG background in food, raw materials or paper. (milling)

What will your day look like?

You will support the manufacturing process by responding effectively to equipment breakdowns, carrying out scheduled maintenance work and being proactive on the correction and modification of all areas of plant - offering fault finding diagnostics were appropriate.

You will organise daily tasks in order to optimise the time available.
Diagnose the issues presented to them and to complete the required tasks in timely manner.

You will demonstrate & build and develop long standing working relationships with both internal and external customers ensuring that the objectives of the department and business as a whole are met.

It will be your Responsibility to:

1.Respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.

2.Communicate effectively with the shift, and ensure that all breakdowns are logged in the front-line events logger.

3.Remain familiar with all aspects of machinery operation and pro-active in the identification of running problems and their correction or modification.

4.Comply with engineering stores procedures and documentation


5.Work effectively within a shift structure ensuring technical cover at all times - remaining flexible always.

6.Provide a reasonable amount of overtime cover in respect of holidays, sickness, maintenance shut downs, projects etc.

7.Monitor machinery in production with a view to carrying out adjustments as necessary.

8.Follow any reasonable request from his/her supervisor.

9.Provide technical electrical leadership to all team members

10.Ensure provision of machine and process documentation, manuals, drawings.

11.Look to offer modification & development of existing processes, with particular regard to the electrical and control aspects, to provide increased efficiencies, additional capacity and/or new product capability.

Perform tasks, and operate / use equipment/machinery only to the level of their training and competence.

Follow site rules / systems and not improvise or compromise where Health, Safety & Environmental standards could be jeopardised.

Take action whenever they believe that any act, their own or others, contravenes Health, Safety & Environmental standards.

Report all accidents, injuries, property damage and near misses.

Organisational ability & GMP
Ability to prioritise and organise own work load within the confines of the requirements of the department and business as a whole.

Ensure that they comply with the Company's GMP Standard and wear the appropriate work wear correctly.

All employees are responsible for ensuring that their workplace is maintained in a clean and tidy manner.

You must be:

Completed apprenticeship (min of 4 years)
Demonstrable experience of working within a similar environment
Qualification in ONC or equivalent.- identifying relevant modules of expertise & knowledge
