My client is looking for a driven and proactive individual to join the Company as a Health and Safety Advisor. They offer a competitive salary, bonus structure, 25 days holiday, death in service benefit, employee perks discount scheme and a great working environment.

As health and Safety Advisor, you will ensure that the health & safety strategy, management systems and policies & procedures are compliant with its legal responsibilities and represent good practice.
You must be willing to be flexible with working hours as the Company is a 24 x 7 operation. Therefore you may be required to work some evenings to ensure the night shifts are fully compliant with all Health and Safety procedures and practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
*Maintain Health and Safety records
*Ensure current legislation is being implemented and complied with; Environmental, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, RIDDOR etc.
*Provide guidance and advise on Fire Regulations, Legionella testing, Hazardous Substances and Occupational Diseases
*Carryout in house training for employees and managers
*Train production staff in the safe use of machinery and equipment Investigate and record incidents and near misses and recommend improvements in safety standards
*Review, improve and document operational procedures
*Plan safe working practices and making necessary changes
*Review existing RAMS etc. and make improvements where necessary, leading to preparation of site specific RAMS, COSHH Assessments and any other Health and Safety Assessments as required
*Highlight areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred
*Carry out safety inductions for new employees
*Provide guidance and advice to the Company on compliance with statutory requirements including keeping up to date with new legislation and best industry practices
*Carry out on-site inspections and audits, offering advice to Management teams
*Put systems in place for the documentation of good working practices
*Pro-actively contribute to the management of health and safety across all sites
*Ensure all reasonable steps are taken to ensure the health and safety of all employees
*Ensure all employees actions and behaviour are within the guidelines of the health & safety and environmental legislation,

You will be required to have:

*Five years experience of working within a health & Safety position
*NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma and/or Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health / IRSM / RoSPA
*Experience of working in a multi-site Health and Safety role
*Extensive knowledge of current Health and Safety Legislation
*Experience of working with a high volume manufacturing area with complex processes
*Experience of working in an environment which can become pressurised in line with production targets
*Able to demonstrate personal success and leadership within the Health and Safety field
*Proficient in the use of technical equipment to monitor and measure potential Health and Safety hazards
*Strong knowledge of The Control of Asbestos Regulations is desirable
*Excellent written and oral communication skills
*Good negotiation skills
*High standard of investigation skills
*Excellent IT skills
*The ability to influence and forge working relationships is essential as you will be working alongside people across the business to establish best practice and therefore not only is influencing critical but also being able to face and overcome resistance
*Knowledge of Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, OHSAS 18001 is desirable
*Be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
*The ability to manage your own work load
*Driving license essential
