My Client is a rapidly growing manufacturing site in Wigan, creating a premium product sold in the UK & European markets. Due to this period of growth & their products continued success across the UK & in Europe, we are currently seeking a professional, experienced Sourcing Specialist with an understanding of manufacturing and appreciation of design.

You will already hold an excellent track record in improving product ranges through product/component supply choice. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that;

"the best components at the best prices are negotiated and secured"

What will you be doing?

*Reporting directly to the Technical Manager.
*Working closely with the Managing Director and Strategy Director (and Shareholder)
*Contributing into the Management Team on specific company-wide challenges and issues.
*Controlling supplier spend ; current approx. £15 million materials spend.
*Excellent prospects for career progression.

You will hold responsibility for:

Materials Sourcing :
-Supporting the Technical Department in the procurement of all manufactured materials from the external chain.
-Ensuring that all procured materials from suppliers meet quality, delivery and target costs.
-Suggest improvements in purchasing processes which will ensure efficiencies are met within the business.
-Ensuring the successful integration of a new components and products to the production line.
-Responsible for translation of design ideas into procuring suitable bought out products.
-Requesting, analysing and challenging quotations from new and existing suppliers.
-Researching materials, competitor trends, market intelligence and alternative sources.
-Help to maintaining relationships with suppliers and develop new channels.
-Review supply agreements performance and compliance; quality and continuity of supply are paramount.
-Leading negotiations with suppliers to achieve cost reductions.
-Experience of selecting suitable components and suppliers to reduce cost and improve design quality.
-Work closely in the design team to improve the product range.
-Maintaining current information including Bills of Materials and supplier information.

-Proven purchasing experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
-Communicate effectively and professionally with suppliers, translating technical information.
-Contractual and commercial awareness.
-An excellent understanding of Manufacturing systems, MRP, Bill Of Materials and stock codes.
-Effective oral and written communication skills.
-Strong team-working skills.
-The ability to work with a low level of supervision and intervention.
-Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
-Solid MS Word, Excel and Outlook skills
-Tangible and quantifiable achievements at senior roles
-Ambitious and driven to succeed
-Lead change and process improvements.
-Apply project management experience driving projects to successful completion.

*Level of materials saves from current product line and new designs
*Effectiveness of ideas on improving product design
*Effectiveness of ideas on improving production efficiency
*Progression of projects targeting new suppliers /components/products/services
