An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Global FMCG Client Unilever, are currently seeking a Senior Research & Development Technologist - Beverages based at the Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire - MK44- (Just a 40 minute drive from Milton Keynes)!

This is a full time temporary role for a period of 12 months, working a 37.5 hour week. This role is paying between £28,300 - £30,875 per annum.

The Beverages Global Design Centre within our Refreshment category is a provider of proprietary technology for Beverages, and as such is the key enabler for Unilever in achieving this ambition.

In this role you will support/lead product development within Global beverages brands: Brook Bond Family, Lipton and Pure Leaf across different consumer platforms (black tea, herbals and infusions, flavoured tea and new beverages formats) and ensure project delivery in close partnership across functions (Marketing; Supply Chain; Procurement) as well as key (external) partners and suppliers (e.g. 3rd party manufacturers and Ingredients suppliers). You will bring your passion for tea, and enthusiasm to know consumer and customer needs and trends and use this to shape and deliver brilliant, sustainable, product experiences.

Main Accountabilities
*To support Technical Project Leader, in some case lead creative product design, quality improvement or value improvement projects and delivery to market on time
*To support, in some cases lead, technical delivery (TPL) of global projects on-time in full (OTIF), including: product concepts; formulation design and specifications; laboratory and Pilot Plant prototypes; cost and quality assessments; assess impact on Unilever Sustainable Living Plan; legislation compliance and claims.
*Manage supplier relationships in the development of new products/change of materials, working close with Expertise Team and Procurement
*Lead and manage pilot plant trials and prototype/product development to support project technical evaluation including Market Research
*Partner with Processing and Supply Chain to organize industrial trials in the relevant Sourcing Units/3rd Party Manufacturers
*Engage cross-functional teams: global and leading regions, including: Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement
*Integrate with global Discover/Design and regional teams to embed formulation toolbox and best practice
*Provide Project and platform updates to Global stakeholders' reviews, R&D regional teams and Cluster Category Leadership Team (CCLT) meetings
*When leading the project, responsible for the timely R&D input into the required IPM documentation and other relevant systems.

Experience Required:
*University degree/diploma or equivalent experience in food science or product development
*Proven experience in the food industry, product formulation and design (beverages or specifically tea would be advantage but not essential)
*Deep knowledge and passion for creative food product design and development.
*Excellent project management and communication skills
*Knowledge and understanding of consumers and their markets
*Proven experience of leading delivery of creative food on the market
*Very occasional short business-trips within Europe may be required (4-6 trips per year)
