My Client is part of a Global brand, specialising in industrial coatings, with a passion to provide quality services, and custom designed solutions across many sectors. This Client is structured into three specialist business segments with an esteemed Customer base reliant on their bespoke services.

This is an exciting time to join the Company as they grow into wider markets & the market stretches into different elements of supply.

As a Lab Technician in Product Development, you will join & learn from an experienced, established Team of Technicians. You will provide technical assistance to both production, and customers by carrying out product development and service work under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager and Development Chemists.

Do you have an interest in research & development with knowledge of paints, polymers, aggro chemicals or ink plus:

* Grade C or above in GCSE Mathematics or equivalent.
* GCSE C or above (or equivalent) in science based subjects or HNC in Chemistry would be preferable.

If so then this could be the role for you.

* Could you undertake practical laboratory work, including; small scale paint manufacture, colour matching, raw material evaluations, paint application, physical testing of paints, chemical resistance testing of paints, preparation of external weathering samples, use of spray equipment and booths.
* You will become fully competent in the use of the lab task system, utilising all sections for completion and tracability of laboratory projects.
* You will undertake record keeping: including reports, enquiries, timesheets, samples & panels.
* You will assist with analytical work, including paint solids determination, and flashpoint determination.
* Can you assist with support work, including supervision of batches in production, investigation of production problems, finding re-work outlets for redundant paint.
* Your understanding of the investigation of customer complaints under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, will ensure end user satisfaction.
* You will maintain a clean and safe working environment through daily housekeeping inspections and adherence to 5S practices.
* You are already competent and fully compliant in the safe operation of equipment, including; general lab equipment & ovens, operation of accelerated weathering cabinets, spray equipment and booths (with the appropriate training).
* You are aware of compliance procedures adhering to Quality, Environmental and Safety Management systems.
* You can identify & highlight unsafe conditions, taking reasonable care of oneself and others & agree to comply to Company Health and Safety policy and any procedures / rules that apply to your role.
* You will adhere to the Company code of conduct at all times.

Additional requirements of the role :
* To be competent in the use of IT systems and software including; Achiever databases, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
* Capable of working to strict deadlines whilst adhering to quality requirements.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Excellent written and verbal communication
