Project Manager

Salary £40,000-45,000

Location Edinburgh, Scotland or Where Required

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to be responsible for the planning, management, coordination and financial control of a new project here in Edinburgh.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Confident problem solver, good communicator able to motivate others
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels and to provide advice on projects as required.
  • Well-organised and self-motivated with high-level of attention to detail
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety) ideal but not essential
  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) ideal but not essential
  • PRINCE2
  • Advanced Knowledge of MSP and Standard MS Packages
  • Good experience as Project manager (infrastructure projects large and small for major contractors)
  • Full driving licence

You will mainly be based in Edinburgh but some travel from time to time may be required.

Some of the main duties will be:

  • Responsible to Managing Director (MD) and to keep him constantly updated as required.
  • Key input at tender and planning stage covering all aspects of the project from people to plant and costs and timelines.
  • Agreeing project objectives and timetable with MD.
  • Management and motivation of Site Managers.
  • Co-ordinate and organise, with Site Managers, the various people working on the project
  • Assist in the continual updating of risk assessment and methodologies for projects.
  • Making certain that all project aims and quality standards are being met and reviewed.
  • For keeping track of costs, labour, timelines, through utilisation of IT or other systems.
  • Assisting with recruiting specialists and sub-contractors.
  • To keep constant feedback of information to commercial department regarding costs, issues, labour.
  • To continually evaluate the project against expectations and to share best practices and lessons learnt with the MD, commercial team and Site Managers within the company.
  • For over-runs and delays and for mitigating such excess costs.
