Emergency Dispatch Assistants

If you'd like to be a part of an essential service which saves lives every day, we'd love to hear from you. Apply here!

This is an excellent opportunity to work within the NHS and make a difference - and ideal if you are searching for something other than the normal 9-5 job.

South Central Ambulance Service is looking for Emergency Call Handlers to join their vibrant contact centre in Bicester. In this role, you will take emergency 999 calls offering the best service on every call as you provide lifesaving support to the general public.

You will have good judgement and be able to make informed decisions as you'll need to discern the severity of calls and provide appropriate support over the phone. This will include providing first aid information, dispatching ambulances and passing on information to relevant services.

The ideal candidate will need a minimum of 2 GCSE's (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Not only is this work highly rewarding, but you'll receive a competitive salary starting with paid training at £8.53 per hour.

You'll also benefit from 27 days holiday per annum (based on full-time hours) plus 8 bank holidays, an NHS pension or NEST scheme and number of great high street discounts with brands such as Nandos and Dominos.

Working within the NHS may also entitle you to apply for a Key Worker Housing scheme.

On offer is 4-weeks of training and a further 8-week support programme. You must be available to attend training from 9.00am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday for the initial 4 weeks.

We have training courses commencing on 9th April, 7th May and 4th June 2018. Once you've completed your training and support program you will also receive an increase of pay to £10.77 per hour.

The site in Bicester is operational 24/7, 365 days a year, so applicants will need to be flexible to cover a new rota every 4 weeks. This will include 8, 10 and 12 hour shifts, days, nights and weekends.

Join the team, and on top of a competitive salary, you’ll also benefit from 27 days annual leave (that’s on top of bank holidays), a pension scheme, discounts on a wide range of high street chains (think Nandos and Dominos), a 12-week training scheme before you start in your role, and ongoing support throughout your time.
