DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

We have an opportunity for a Database Administrator to join an experienced and friendly ICT department for a large global organisation. The successful candidate will work in a team developing and implementing bespoke business applications to enhance business operations and efficiencies, using the latest technologies and development techniques. The position will be based at the Bracknell Office alongside other ICT colleagues, with the rest of the team based throughout Europe.

The individual will be expected to install, configure and maintain IT systems, servers and networks. Works according to client needs in the implementation of new systems and infrastructure. Ensures that IT resources are used efficiently to support daily business operations. Creates and keeps system documentation up to date. Monitors the state and the accurate functioning of the IT tools and systems. Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves technical problems in order to maintain a reliable network service. Researches, evaluates and recommends hardware, software, and IT equipment that will improve system performance. Guides and assists internal clients with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of IT systems. Responsible for the maintenance of operating standards.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for securing corporate financial and personnel data held within, and used by other systems within the organisation
  • Ensures system security and change management policies are maintained.
  • Ensure database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance.
  • Ability to monitor and proactively tune and configure databases and queries
  • Mentoring and Code reviews with developers.
  • Help our developers improve system and query performance by way of knowledge transfer about best practice.
  • Support BI development and existing applications using SSRS, SSIS & SSAS with DataMart and MDX exposure.
  • Creates financial reports to user specifications using commonly available report writing tools and queries for SQL databases
  • Write scripts to create, optimize, and maintain databases, tables, constraints, functions, stored procedures, indexes, and triggers
  • Identifies, develops and optimizes complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to extract information for developers to utilise in business applications
  • Assist with the import and export of data from third parties
  • Support and troubleshoot issues
  • SQL Expert attending meetings in ICT as well as with our business
  • Has the ability to work closely and effectively with developers, vendors and end users at all levels of the organisation to design and maintain database solutions for new and existing projects by understanding the business requirements
  • Assist in R&D activities, risk assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Ensuring GDPR policies and procedures are adhered to within scope of systems we look after

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ Years experience using SQL Server (DBA roles, designing & implementing database solutions, writing stored procedures, queries etc), SSRS and SSIS
  • Experience in Clustering, Best Practices for High-Availability and Replication
  • Able to demonstrate experience in creating, administering and enforcing policies and procedures for database management, security, and utilisation
