You will be involved in all aspects of mechanical design for electrical motors used in a variety of industrial applications, from customer enquiry to producing mechanical designs and detailed component drawings. Analysis and calculations for component stresses, weights, cooling flow rates, shrink fits using existing data sets. Producing designs (3D/2D) layout and manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials via ERP system. Be the point of liaison with all other departments and stakeholders including Production engineering on issues of Design for Manufacture, Sales Department on contract specifications, suppliers on sourcing suitable components, such as terminals, encoders, electro-mechanical brakes, castings, fasteners etc.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following: Degree level qualification or significant experience in Mechanical Engineering

Experience of working in manufacturing industry sector

Knowledge of Electrical Motor or transformers design (highly desirable)

Knowledge of mechanical rotary equipment such as pumps, gearbox etc. (essential)

Experience of 3D/2D CAD systems (Inventor and AutoCAD or CoCreate advantageous)

Knowledge of FEED process from interpretation of client instruction to design concept and detail to Capable of producing design package; 3D/2D designs, GA drawings, specification and BOM's ready for workshop production and assembly (advantageous)

Knowledge of hand calculation for bearing design (advantageous)

Knowledge of Hazardous area / ATEX standards relevant to flameproof design engineering

Knowledge of the design for manufacture process

Knowledge of manufacturing process of fabricated and machine engineered components

Knowledge of thick gauge fabrication pressed and rolled steel (+20mm) (advantageous)

Knowledge of SAP MRP system (advantageous)

Excellent communicator both written and oral

Proactive able to work as part of a team and on individual projects

Flexibility to work across various disciplines and share your ideas

A good problem-solving, attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines

The ability to coordinate and manage your own work-related activities

The ability to meet quality standards, within budget and agreed timescales
