This Company funds projects and activities that make communities stronger and more vibrant, and that are led by the people who live in them. We support charities, community groups, and people with great ideas - local or national, large or small.

We wish to recruit a small team of temporary staff on either a full time or part time basis, with experience of assessing funding applications and knowledge of the voluntary and community sector.

If you are interested in one of these positions please send a covering letter explaining why you think you would be a good candidate, along with an up to date CV.

What are we looking for?

We are looking engage experienced grant assessors to support the company with assessing Reaching Communities (stage two) applications. Whilst the bulk of the assessment will be conducted by this team, newly established 'regional' teams will also be involved in assessment and responsible for decision making. We are looking for people who can commit for 5 months.

Why is this support needed?

As part of our change plans, we are moving grant making to our newly established regional teams, in order to do this we had to temporarily pause our Reaching Communities investment programme, which created a significant increase in applications. As a result we now need to recruit a small team of up to five experienced assessment staff, to help process the applications from the second stage of the application process. We are looking for people who are able to work as a part of a team, using their initiative to ensure that assessments are being completed within a set deadline and to a high standard.

What will you be doing?

The main focus of this role will be assessing grant applications against a set criteria. It will also involve liaising with applicants by telephone and occasionally by visit and you'll be responsible for collating and analysing the information you've gathered, and then writing up thorough, objective assessment reports for decision makers.

Where is this work based?

We can offer flexible working from home or other office locations across England.

What are the essential skills?

  • Ideal candidates will have experience of assessment work, along with excellent communication skills (both verbal and in writing)
  • Ability to read and summarise information at pace (rapid appraisal of written information)
  • Experience of report writing
  • Ability to analyse information and produce a clear recommendation
  • Experience of making and presenting evidenced based judgements
