Job Details

We have great temporary opportunities to join us, through Manpower, as a Customer Advisor at our recently refurbished and friendly office in Hillington. You will be helping us process a large volume of work coinciding with the start of the academic year for further education establishments in Northern Ireland and Wales.

The Further Education Customer Services Teams (FE CST) administers both the Education Maintenance Allowance schemes (EMA) for Wales and Northern Ireland and the Welsh Government Learning Grant for Further Education for Wales. As a Customer Advisor you'll be working as part of the team that determines students' entitlement to financial support.

Your role will involve assessing applications, so that an accurate decision on their eligibility can be made. You'll also be involved in related tasks such as managing changes in student's circumstances and requesting any additional information that's required before a decision can be made. This is not a traditional contact centre based role - whilst you will occasionally answer incoming calls from customers, you'll be part of the back office processing team.

Previous experience isn't required for this role - what's more important is that you're computer literate and have a high attention to detail, with excellent organisational and communication skills.

You should be confident in using Microsoft PC packages including Word and Excel, and ideally hold both Maths and English at standard level or above (or equivalent).

Our people tell us there are a wide variety of reasons why they work for us. We recognise the importance of a healthy work-life balance and our staff policies reflect this.

No matter how you join us, you'll find that you have the opportunity to develop skills in the course of your everyday work and through specific training. You'll be surrounded by friendly people in our offices which offer pleasant, open plan surroundings with free on street parking and on-site kitchen facilities. And for those relying on public transport, we are immediately adjacent to Hillington East train station - shift times coincide with the train timetable.

We have a great selection of benefits on offer, including:

  • Competitive salary - paid weekly
  • Flexi-time scheme (subject to performance and business requirements)
  • Generous annual leave - 36 days holiday including 8 public holidays (pro-rata)
  • Pension scheme after qualifying period
  • Comprehensive training and guidance, delivered by the dedicated on-site team

In your role as Customer Advisor, you'll be joining the company on a temporary contract provided by Manpower. The assignment is currently planned to run until 30th November 2017. We are seeking applications from those who are able to commit to this period.

This role is offered for those interested in full time work, where the shift pattern is 09:15 - 17:15 Monday to Friday (37.5 hours).

Interested? Apply here today! If successful, Manpower will call you - from a private number - within 2 working days to conduct a short telephone interview. Please be aware that Manpower UK Ltd is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this opportunity.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo Her Majesty's Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment vetting. This includes verification of your identity, criminal record, financial probity and nationality and immigration status. We also require evidence of your employment/education history over the last 3 years. We may also require an overseas criminal record check if you have spent more than 6 months outside of the UK in the last 3 years. Further information will be given at assessment stage.
