The role of the Escort Custody Officer is to provide care and support to Children or the youth in custody while they are travelling to/from and/or attending court or other locations (e.g. hospital visits) outside of their custodial accommodation. In this role you will be expected to undertake inter-secure establishment/court movements and bed-watches as required, and respond to ad-hoc emergency situations as they occur.
Security:
To ensure the security of a Child or the youth and prevent escape.
To maintain control, discipline and a safe environment for a Child or the youth while in the custody of GEOAmey
Supervise Children or the youth during the reception process, escorting, during hand-over to court staff, during visits and at release or return to custodial establishments. Where the situation demands, to use reasonable force, using trained, contract approved methods to re-establish control
Check and record all property, cash, warrants, category, warnings and movement details & confirm
the correct identity for the Child or the youth in the custody of GEOAmey
To carry out searches, including that of individuals and their possessions, vehicles and any location where the Children or the youth are secured
To maintain the security of sensitive information and documentation
To maintain the security of any vehicle being utilised and other allocated company equipment
Operational:
To create a culture of care for Children or the youth
Provide enhanced care to Children or the youth in the custody of GEOAmey whilst in court cells
To deliver the Child or the youth to their nominated destination within the specified timeframe
By utilising good interpersonal skills and welfare standards, promote a spirit of high morale and inspire willing co-operation between and amongst Children or the youth
Treat all stakeholders with respect, courtesy, and consideration
Assist in the assessment of the Child or the youth's conduct, health and well-being.
Rendering of first aid to Children, the youth or staff, if required.
Maintain a high level of personal appearance as per operating instructions, and sufficient level of personal fitness to carry out duties
Undertake any other lawful and reasonable duties when required.
Administrative:
Complete all required documentation and reports in an accurate, comprehensive and efficient manner
Be aware of any medical instructions or treatments required by Children or the youth.
If any offences are committed by Children or the youth in the care of GEOAmey, prepare appropriate reports for custodial establishments &/or Police
Essential Skills

Proven multi-tasking experience in a fast paced environment

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
