Technical Sales Manager

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 Per Annum, Plus Commission and other benefits

Shifts: Full Time

Based In: Hemel Hempstead

Manpower is recruiting for a Technical Sales Manager on behalf of our client located in Hemel Hempstead. The role is Permanent, and based within the Energy Sector.

Our client specialises in the manufacture, project design, sale, commission, service and repair of pumped drainage solutions nationwide. Over the last few years the business has been expanding rapidly due to new contracts and will be continuing expansion in coming years.

They require a Technical Sales Manager based in Hemel Hempstead, to manage the team of technical sales staff and help continue building their new and existing client base.

The general job summary and primary objectives include:


  • Building new and existing client base;
  • Scheduling and attending site visits;
  • Production of technical specifications and quotations;
  • Selling new products;
  • Achievement of Department level and personal sales targets for themselves and all sales staff;
  • Production and submission of monthly management information reports;
  • Development and management of service contract sales;
  • Day to day management of staff and administration within the sales department

  • Main duties and essential responsibilities included:


  • Communicate with clients to achieve sales (i.e. telephone sales);
  • Attending meetings at client locations in order to sell and market the company product range;
  • Manage and interpret client requirements and situations;
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance to clients;
  • Maintain and ensure effective operation of the company computer client data base system;
  • Provide input on marketing decisions;
  • Ensure effective client account management;
  • Liaise with Service and Sales Department teams in order to establish potential leads;
  • Communicate with end user clients to achieve sales (i.e. telephone sales), explaining the benefits /value of a service contract;
  • Generation and development of 'leads' for new business opportunities
  • Produce quotations;
  • Produce and present monthly management information sales report to the Directors (this is to include sales figures, internal/external sales feedback, client specific data, quotations completed/issued, forthcoming order projections, etc.).
  • Manage the team of Technical Sales staff (including the Technical Sales Coordinator and the Technical Sales Administrator) and coach them in order to facilitate their effective performance and career growth;
  • Manage the Technical Sales Department salary and bonus reward systems;
  • The Technical Sales Manager will co-ordinate theirs and the Department's work with the other Sales and Business Development Department staff;
  • Work with the Director to design and implement Company sales strategy;
  • Lead the design strategies to maximise customer satisfaction with the company products and services;
  • Provide sales projections and financial forecasting data;
  • Manage Sales Department Budget;
  • Assist in creating and developing an industry knowledge base.
